Winter Weather Update

We have had great fall and early-winter moisture in this 2022-2023 growing season. The trees' dormant season has started late as our cold weather arrived later than usual; therefore, chilling hours are low. There is a great deal of winter left, so we are hopeful for improved conditions.

New Orchard Update

We are excited to announce that our new orchard is making great headway! Last February we planted 1,536 trees, and we have approximately 1,600 more trees that we expect to arrive in late January to be planted in phase 2 of the process.

What are chilling hours?

When we use the term "chilling hours," we refer to the required number of hours below 40-45 degrees that our peach trees accumulate in their dormancy. The particular varieties we harvest need anywhere from 600-850 hours per season. Proper chilling hours are necessary as they promote bud and leaf development, which leads to a healthy peach. Therefore, we need proper cold throughout the winter season while the trees are still dormant, so do not worry about those bitter winter days in January and February as they are great for peach growth and development!
